1. New Town Hall

A rectangular five-storey building in the functionalist style, with a corner prismatic tower and a clock, was built on the oldest central square (called "Mírové", e.i. "Peace" now) in 1931 through 1933 as designed by architect Prof. K. Winter. The decision to build a new town hall originally related to the attempts of replacing the old town hall with a building more convenient for the expanding municipal administration and of completing the town center from architectonic point of view. Therefore the new town hall's concept had been one of cultural center with restaurants and (still working) movie theater. In the years of the economic crisis, the construction was also the source of bread and butter to many town citizens, as it had been seen that the construction be carried out by local companies. Today, the town council resides in the building and the town hall tower, with a panoramic view of the town and a guide, is open for the public in summer (July 1 through August 31). The new town hall is a building which made the Czech interwar architecture rank among the European top.
