11. Podhorská Street's High-rises

Podhorská Street is one of the principal shopping arteries of the town. It goes from Mírové Square, round the Lutheran and Old-Catholic churches, as far as the Jablonecké Paseky neighborhood. The buildings in Podhorská Street used to be seats of the most important export companies and the street is a living textbook of late central European architecture. The buildings, in the street section opposite the Lutheran church towards the town center above the bus station, from turn of the 20th century, are interesting. They were built on a steep sidehill and that is why they have invisible underground stories, as viewed from Podhorská Street, which, however, are visible from the bus station as overground floors.
