9. Catholic Church
of Lord's Most Sacred Heart

A three-nave brick rectangular building, with a cross nave and square tower at the southern end and half-circular presbytery, was built in the years 1930 through 1931. Jablonec's native and a significant architect of European importance, Josef Zasche, was the author of the design. The construction was carried out by Max Daut's company. The interior features platforms in the side aisles. There are a bronze statue of Jesus Christ by Viennese sculptor Arnold Hartig from 1930 on the main altar and a marble pieta sculpture by F. Huppa from 1933 on the side altar. The church has been partially restored (tiles, altar repair).
The church is located on the Horní (Upper) Square; there is a splendid view, of the Černá Studnice (Black Well) hill with a prospect tower of the same name (1904 - 1905) and large part of Jablonec, from the western terrace of the square.
